A wedding is a ceremony in which two people are united in marriage. Wedding traditions and customs vary greatly between cultures, ethnicities, races, religions, denominations, countries, social classes, and sexual orientations. Most wedding ceremonies involve an exchange of marriage vows by a couple; a presentation of a gift (e.g., an offering, rings, a symbolic item, flowers, money, or a dress); and a public proclamation of marriage by an authority figure or celebrant. Weddings can run the gamut from long elaborate ceremonies that are laden with symbolism and religious requirements to strictly civil ceremonies, which can legally be completed in less than five minutes. They can be traditional or, as is growing more popular in twenty-first century society, less formal affairs that can at times take on the mantle of unique themes. Like people, no two weddings are the same.
In Canada, marriage is the responsibility of the provincial government. Edward is registered as a person authorised to solemnise marriage within the geographical boundaries of the Province of Ontario. A wedding can take place in virtually any setting or venue, be it indoors or out in nature.
We work with you to create a ceremony that is both engaging, memorable and uniquely personal, all while ensuring it meets the legal standard for the Province of Ontario. We will ensure that, once the ceremony is completed, the necessary paperwork will be transferred to the provincial Registrar General within forty-eight hours.
A hallmark of Canada’s identity is the mosaic of cultural diversity. We will work with you to ensure that your cultural preferences are represented. We are also completely at ease with the performance of wedding ceremonies for any and all sexual orientations.
Weddings are conducted in complete compliance with the requirements stated in both the Canadian Civil Marriage Act S.C. 2005 c. 33 and the Ontario Marriage Act (1990).
